Hunting

If you are in a mood for killing stuff, I suggest that you try hunting. You will certainly get hooked on this. Hunting is fun and if you are lucky you will get your name in the Hall Of Fame, make a HOF.

To hunt you need some kind of weapon, there are basically 2 kinds of weapons, melee and guns. Melee is an axe, sword, power fist or similar, these weapons have really hard decay but are good for second weapon if you run out on ammo or have other reason not to use your gun. A gun is a gun!

To aim at a target just click on it and it will get a green square round it, the target is marked.

Now you start firing at it, there are several ways of doing this, I will come back to this further down. When you hit the target it will be registered as a hit and the creature looses in life. How much you hurt is based on what weapon you use, luck and your skill. Every weapon has a maximum hit strength and the better skills you have the more of this maximum hit strength you will inflict on the target. You will also gain skills depending on what weapon you use. If you are really lucky you can make a critical hit on the target, in such cases you inflict greater damage than your weapons maximum. The higher skill you have the more critical hits you make.

After a few or more hits, depending on what target you trying to kill you will succeed in killing it.

Time to LOOT!
This is the most exciting part of the hunt. You have just survived the attack of an angry mob and succeeded in killing it, the carcass is laying there in front of you and now you will find out just how lucky you are. Will you get rich and famous or not?

Click on the marked carcass or just double-click an unmarked. The Loot display will show if you got anything. You can also right-click the carcass or if you put an Loot action on the quick bar you can use a function key. (see Quick bar guide).

Aiming & firing at target

There is some different ways of aiming at a target. You can just do like in any first person shooter. This way you will shoot a lot of air. Or you just double-click the target. Another way is that you click and hold the target, drag mouse to right and let go of mouse button. Now you can double-click that square and you will aim automagic. The last way and the one I prefer, is that you open your inventory, press I, and drag your weapon to the quick bar and it will get a function key. I use F1 for my gun, you use what ever you prefer. Mark the target with one mouse click and start press the function key.

Good luck!
